For the display of a cardiac artery zone (8) i.e. pulmonary vein ostia, three-dimensional image data of the heart area (15) around it are stored. An environmental segment (30) of the artery zone is displayed from the image data for the artery zone to be marked. The position of the marked artery zone is computed according to the actual lie of the patient (11) and is combined symbolically into the examination image (13).
