The decontamination process for a room involves supplying purifying gas-air mixture to it from a decontamination device including a nozzle (12). The mixture is supplied for a preset time in one direction, to form a free jet. The same direction is maintained until a standing flow is formed, after which the direction is altered as required so that the entire room is eventually decontaminated.
