A learning device 2 comprises a plurality of pages 10 and a support member 6. Each page 10 includes a first section 9, preferably in the form of a column, comprising at least one question, problem, statement or image 13, and a second section 11 comprising at least one item of information 15, e.g. an answer, relating to a corresponding item in the first section. A panel 16 is mounted in relation to the support member 6, and is movable between a first position in which it overlies the second section of a page and a second position in which it does not overlie that page so that the page may be turned. The panel is provided with at least one shutter 20 over a window 22 which corresponds to an item 15 in the second section and is movable between a closed shutter position in which, when the panel is in the first position, the shutter obscures an item in the second section, and an open shutter position in which the shutter 20 does not obscure said item 15. The device is preferably in the form of a book and may be directed at learning mathematical multiplication tables or spelling (Fig. 3). The device may hold two dice 24. Alternatively a third section may be provided which is coverable by the panel and a clue shutter (28, Fig. 3) provided in the panel. The third section has clues (30, Fig. 4) to the items in the second section which are revealed by operation of the clue shutter. |
