<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor capable of simplifying a processing unit, reducing the size of a crossbar circuit, and increasing the speed of processing, and an image processing method. <P>SOLUTION: This image processor comprises a plurality of POP 0 to POP 3 which are functional units performing highly parallel calculation processings. Each POP comprises calculators POPE 0 to POPE 3 arranged parallel with each other. Each of POPE 0 to POPE 3 receives data read from a cache and calculation parameters by a filter function unit FFU, performs specified calculations, and outputs the results of the calculations to a next POPE. The next POPE adds the results of the calculations on the previous stage to the results of the calculations of the POPE, outputs the results of the calculations to the next POPE, and in the final POPE 3, obtains the results of the calculations of all POPE 0 to POPE 3. Each POP selects only the results of the calculations of one POPE 3 from the results of the calculations of the plurality of POPEs, and outputs the selected results of the calculations to the crossbar circuit 13146. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
