The tray for transporting individual bottles and bottles packed in outer cartons has the compartments which are to accommodate both individual bottles and bottle-filled outer cartons arranged in the longitudinal and transverse direction. Ring segments are arranged beneath the bottom of the tray and partially encompass the bottle stoppers which partially project from the outer carton. The division of the compartments in the tray is such that on both sides of three parallel longitudinally arranged compartments there is at least one row in each case of two transversely arranged compartments.
