PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the connection job process of an optical waveguide and an optical fiber and to improve the reliability of the connection between the optical waveguide and the optical fiber in the method of manufacturing an optical waveguide module in which the optical waveguide and the optical fiber are connected. SOLUTION: Firstly, an optical waveguide plate 2 is formed which has a fused part 25 for fusing the optical fiber 3 to the clad layers 22 and 24 and the end part of a core 23 by softening at a predetermined temperature, and has an optical fiber fixing part 26 for fixing the optical fiber 3 without being softened at a temperature at which the fused part 25 is softened in the vicinity of the clad layers 22 and 24 and the end part of the core 23. Secondly, the end part of the optical fiber 3 is heated until the fused part 25 is softened and inserted up to the optical fiber fixing part 26 while pressing the end part of the optical fiber 3 against the fused part 25. Thereafter, the fused part 25 is solidified by cooling the fused part 25 of the optical waveguide plate 2 and the end part of the optical fiber 3, thus the optical fiber 3 is fused to the optical waveguide plate 2.
