The assembly (10) has a permanent magnet motor (16) comprising a shaft (24), and a face gear pinion (26) associated with the shaft. A drive member (56) i.e. output gear, is associated with a spur or helical pinion (40) such that movement of the shaft and face gear pinion moves the spur or helical pinion to drive the drive member. The motor, the face gear pinion, a jack shaft and clutch assembly (18), the spur or helical pinion and the drive member are housed within a housing structure. The housing structure includes a mounting structure to mount the motor assembly to an object i.e. vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a motor assembly.
