The method involves guiding the pollutant-loaded gas through a reaction chamber with a filling material ballast (2) with a small granular swirlable filling material. The filling material is flown through an artificially generated strong air flow in opposite direction towards trickling water by attaining a technologically specified loss of pressure. The biomass is discharged from the filling material ballast (2) with the liquid flow. The abraded biomass is extracted from the reaction chamber in an adjacent manner. The filling material is made of foamed polystyrene.
