7-(3-Methylbut-2-en-1-yl)-2H-1,5-benzodioxepin-3(4H)-one (I) is new. Independent claims are included for: (1) a mixture (III) of fragrance- and/or flavor-material comprising (I) and one or more additional fragrance- and/or flavor-materials, preferably one or more fragrance- and/or flavor-materials with a lily of the valley olfactory- and/or gustatory-notes, and/or one or more fragrance- and/or flavor-materials with an aqueous olfactory- and/or gustatory-notes; (2) the preparation of (I); (3) 4-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)benzene-1,2-diol compound (II); and (4) the preparation of mixture (III), comprising mixing (I) with the components of fragrance and/or flavor-materials.
