764,951. Cold separation of gas mixtures. MORRISON, W. L. March 31, 1955, No. 9440/55. Class 8(2) Stage liquefaction of natural hydrocarbon gas issuing from a well at high pressure is effected by preliminary cooling using the evaporator 8 of a conventional refrigerating plant, expanding at a turbine 13, stripping the wet expanded gas in a separator 15, using the cold stripped gas in an exchanger 18 to cool incoming gas, compressing the warmed dry gas in a compressor 20 to the pressure of the incoming gas and adding it thereto at a junction 2 for recirculation. A portion of the warm dry gas leaving the compressor 20 traverses a duct 23 for use in a prime mover 22, e.g. a turbine or an internal combustion piston engine for driving the compressor 20 and the refrigerator compressor 4.
|
