The system has a connecting unit formed by a logic circuit (25), a control element (26) and a start switch (27). The connecting unit connects a starter (21) to an electrical energy source (20) and an alternator-starter (23) to another electrical energy source (22) during a starting phase of a heat engine. The energy sources are respectively formed by a battery and a super-capacitor. The logic circuit controls the starting of the starter during beginning of the starting phase, and controls starting of the alternator-starter, when the engine speed attains a preset threshold. An independent claim is also included for a method for starting a heat engine of a vehicle.
