<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a tannin-base adhesive which exhibits high strength and high water resistance and does not generate any harmful volatile substance; a woody composite material made by using the adhesive and exhibiting excellent practical strength; and a method for producing the composite material. <P>SOLUTION: The tannin-base adhesive is obtained by blending a mixture of tannin or a modified tannin and a crosslinking or curing agent with at least one member selected from among hydrocarbon wax, a surfactant, and a resol-type phenol resin. The woody composite material is composed of a plurality of woody molding materials which are bonded to each other with the adhesive. The process for the production of the woody composite material comprises forming a woody mat by using a mixture of the woody molding materials and the tannin-base adhesive, then hot-pressing the woody mat while making high-temperature steam permeate into the mat, and thus curing the adhesive to form a woody composite material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
