<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverter and a refrigeration cycle device having high safety, capable of preventing breakage of a switching device or the like even if a current detection resistance has a break. <P>SOLUTION: The current detection resistance 21 is inserted into and connected to DC voltage supply lines L1, L2 relative to a switching circuit 10. A protection resistance 22 is connected with the current detection resistance 21 in parallel. The protection resistance 22 has a higher resistance value than the current detection resistance 21.
