PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of scanning a digital broadcast channel that is executed in a short time without increasing costs and scale of an entire apparatus, and to provide a digital broadcast receiver using the same. SOLUTION: After a channel is set to a tuner unit 2, a channel scan control unit 7 acquires a plurality of demodulation information items from a demodulation unit 3 to determine a receiving status of the channel. At this point, if it is determined that reception is disabled, the scan of the channel is finished to shift to the scan of the next channel. Furthermore, if it is determined that no error is contained in a transport stream (TS) signal, channel information contained in the TS signal is acquired from a decoding unit 4 and stored in a channel information storage unit 6.
