PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably adjust blinking of a light beam when rocking variation occurs in an optical scanner in which a light beam is one-dimensionally reciprocally scanned. SOLUTION: A position detection means (reference points 1 and 2) are provided in the vicinity of both end parts of a scanning region, the time interval from the point of time when scanning light passes the reference point 1 to the point of time when the scanning light passes through the reference point 1 again after turning back at the end of the scanning region is denoted by Ta, the time interval from the point of time when scanning light passes the reference point 2 to the point of time when the scanning light passes through the reference point 2 again after turning back at the end of the scanning region is denoted by Td, and a standard time Tg is given by Tg=Ta+Td, then a control means is provided which controls at least one of a blinking period and blinking start timing of the light beam according to the relation among Tg, Ta and Td.
