PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor capable of blocking oil flow to the outside of a hermetic container and reducing a discharge amount of oil to the outside of the hermetic container in a flow process of the oil enclosed in the hermetic container. SOLUTION: In the hermetic compressor equipped with an electric element and a compression element in the hermetic container, a doughnut-shaped shielding mesh plate having a hollow center part is provided at an upper part inside the hermetic container and above the electric element. The relation between a hollow part diameter dimension A and a rotor outer diameter dimension B of the shielding plate is set to be A<B to form the compressor, which can block a flow path of the oil for discharging to the outside of the hermetic container and can reduce the discharge amount of the oil to the outside of the hermetic container in the flow process of the oil enclosed in the hermetic container.
