PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device for easily performing the installation work of a support member. SOLUTION: In this shift lever device 10, a control shaft is extended between sidewalls of a housing case 16 while being inserted into the lower end of a shift lever 34, and the control shaft is installed in the housing case 16. Here, contact with a click surface 48 of a click piston 46 by an energizing force of a compression coil spring 44 is released by arranging the shift lever 34 in a permission part 56 except for an automatic shift area and a manual shift area 54 of a shift hole 50. Thus, the shift lever 34 is not energized to the lower side by the compression oil spring 44, and the installation work of the control shaft in the housing case 16 can be easily performed.
