PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a pneumatic tire capable of improving work efficiency and heat generation characteristics during rubber processing while maintaining satisfactory grip performance and improving stability in vehicle steering on a dry road surface. SOLUTION: This rubber composition for pneumatic tire contains a rubber component prepared by single copolymer rubber formed by copolymerization of 1,3-butadiene and styrene by using an organic lithium compound as an initiator and having glass transition point of -40°C or more or by blending the copolymer rubber of 50 wt.% or more and the other diene rubber of 50 wt.% or less together, silica, silane coupling agent, and polymer gel being diene polymer particle having index of swelling of toluene Qi of less than 16 and glass transition point of 20-80°C of 1-30 pts.wt. to the rubber component of 100 pts.wt.
