The invention refers to a rocker arm (1) having a first end section (2) at one end of the rocker arm, a central body section (3) having a circular opening (9) and a second end section (4) at the other end of the rocker arm, where the rocker arm comprises a first arm member (5) and a second arm member (6) formed from sheet material such as ferrous or non-ferrous sheet metal, where the two arm members (5, 6) bear on each other at least at the central body section (3) and that the two arm members (5, 6) are permanently joined to each other. The invention further refers to a method for manufacturing a rocker arm. The advantage of the invention is that a cheap, lightweight and stiff rocker arm is obtained that is cost-effective to produce.
