<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gaze direction measuring device for measuring a face/gaze direction which does not require a preparatory calibration by estimating a displacement amount indicating the vertical direction change without using information on a face surface view which greatly changes depending on a person. <P>SOLUTION: In a gaze direction measuring device, a face horizontal direction measuring part 201 measures the angle of the face horizontal direction for a face image obtained by an image pickup part 101. By using information on the radius of a head part and information on the shoulder position of the person obtained by the above measurement, an angle of the face in the vertical direction is determined by displace amount obtained by a face vertical displacement measuring part 202 for measuring face displacement in the vertical direction regardless of a head part posture. From the obtained face direction, the angle of the gaze in the horizontal direction and the eyeball radius are measured. A gaze vertical displacement measuring part 206 is provided to measure a pupil center position against the eyeball center position as the gaze displacement in the vertical direction.
