<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical line failure detection device and an optical line failure detection method capable of demarcating simply in a short time, a failure of a transmission device from a failure of an optical fiber, and a light source device and a light receiving device used therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The optical line failure detection device is used for an optical communication system for transmitting information by propagating signals 1, 2 through an optical line 12 between a transmission device 10 on the transmission side and a transmission device 11 on the reception side. The optical line failure detection device is equipped with the light source device 13 for generating monitor light 3 having a different wavelength from a light signal propagated through the optical line 12, a coupler 14 for coupling the monitor light 3 with the optical line 12, a light coupler 15 for taking out the monitor light 3 propagated through the optical line 12 from the optical line 12, and the light receiving device 16 for receiving the monitor light 3 taken out from the optical line 12. When detecting an abnormality of the optical line 12 based on light intensity of the monitor light 3, the light receiving device 16 performs contact output. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
