PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing device capable of easily communicating data for reproduction, without causing unintended communication which is a security issue. SOLUTION: In the data reproducing device, a headphone unit, for example, is used as a detachable device which is normally used for data reproducing action, and the headphone unit comprises a storage element 108 in which an authentication code is recorded. The headphone units are exchanged each other between communication parties for mutual authentication for data communication. After completion of data transfer, the mutually authenticated state is released. To start communication with mutually established authentication again, the headphone units must be restored, for exchanging the headphone units again. Since mutual authentication is performed by attaching/detaching of devices within a close range which allows visual observation of the other party, unauthorized use is prevented.
