PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the possibility of missing of data in which users are interested in a television broadcast receiver on which caption data is superimposed on display images. SOLUTION: A control unit of the television broadcast receiver acquires (S2), when it has determined that a caption data function is turned on (S1: YES), the caption data extracted by a caption data decoding unit to determine (S3) whether the designated letters and modified profiles of the designated letters are inputted by a user. Modified profiles indicate the display profiles in which the size and colors of the designated letters are changed and are also selected by the user from a plurality of candidates. When it is determined that the designated letters and modified profiles are inputted (S3: YES), the control unit determines (S4) whether the designated letters are included in the caption data acquired and changes (S5), when the designated letters are included in the caption data (S4: YES), the designated letters in accordance with the modified profiles selected by the user, output and display (S6) such designated letters changed on a monitor device.
