PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective fence enabling a force applied from a rope to struts to be reduced by reducing a tension applied from the rope thereto when a falling stone impact or a snow pressure acts thereon. SOLUTION: The struts 2 are vertically installed at intervals. The upper part of one strut 2 is connected to the forward position between the one strut 2 and the adjacent strut 2 through a diagonal rope 4. A net 3 is installed along the diagonal rope 4 between the struts 2, 2. Auxiliary ropes 15, 16 which form deflections projecting in the lateral direction are connected to the diagonal rope 4. Since the tension acting from the diagonal rope 4 to the struts 2 is reduced, a force acting on the struts 2 and an earth side anchors 5 when a stone falling impact or a snow pressure acts thereon can be reduced.
