The method involves three-dimensionally providing a center line (4) for a two-dimensional image acquisition and a three-dimensional image acquisition for a section of a blood vessel. A registration of the image acquisitions is made together in dependence of the center line determined for the image acquisitions in context of production of a fusion image. The center line is determined for two-dimensional image acquisition under the use of a magnetic positioning system for a medical instrument guided into the blood vessel.
