PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a pigment dispersion by which a pigment dispersion dispersed in high concentration and small particle size can be obtained at low cost. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a pigment dispersion by precipitating a pigment from a solution in which the pigment dissolves and dispersing the precipitated pigment in a dispersion medium includes a step of preparing a solution in which the pigment is dissolved in an organic acid, a step of preparing a reaction liquid 4 decreasing the solubility of the pigment in the solution, and a step of mixing the solution and the reaction liquid in the presence of an additive represented by general formula (1), wherein m is an integer higher than 14 and lower than 18, and n is an integer equal to or higher than 15 and equal to or lower than 25.
