PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect whether foreign matters are present in a forming die, using a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This abnormality detecting method is adopted, when forming raw material is heated and is formed, by using a form block 200 constituted of an upper mold 210 and a lower mold 220. After the forming raw material is supplied to the form block 200, abnormality-detecting operation of narrowing the space between the upper mold 210 and the lower mold 220 is performed, prior to heating the form block 200, and whether foreign matters are present is detected, based on this operation.
