PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device capable of constituting a robust seek control system to external force in seek control of the magnetic disk device and to provide a control method of a magnetic head. SOLUTION: In the magnetic disk device provided with a driving part moving a magnetic head recording and reproducing information to a magnetic disk and a controlling means controlling the driving part, the controlling means has an integrator and a phase lead compensator and has a position error feed-back control system seeking a position command based on the difference between a target position and a detected position of the magnetic head and feed-back controlling the driving part and a two-freedom control system inputting a target movement distance of the magnetic head and outputting a current command to the driving part using a mathematical formula model of the driving part. The control means alters the mathematical formula model using the output of the phase lead compensator while giving the output of the integrator to the driving part upon both positioning control and seek of the magnetic head.
