摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor ring-laser gyro with high rotation detection accuracy. SOLUTION: This gyro includes: a laser element 20 equipped with a resonator having an annular optical track 23 and generating laser beams L1 and L2 propagating through the optical track 23 in directions opposite to each other; a guide-out means for guiding each of the laser beams L1 and L2 out of the optical track 23; and a detection means for detecting a frequency difference between the guided-out laser beams L1 and L2. An active zone 21 effecting light amplification and a passive zone 22 effecting no light amplification exist on portions of the optical track 23 of the resonator. An active layer in the active zone 21 and a light guide layer in the passive zone 22 are put between a lower clad layer and an upper clad layer, respectively. The upper clad layers are ridge-shaped while the lower clad layers planately spread.
