摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire elongation detecting device which can surely and simply detect whether or not elongation of a wire or a chain exceeds an elongation limit allowable value L, and does not require adjustment of a position of a sensor or the like after replacing the wire. SOLUTION: Signal generating means 20, 21, which generate a signal for detecting the wire elongation when the balance weight is located on a predetermined reference position, are provided in the middle of an elevating/lowering path for a balance weight 15. A position of a spindle head 12 where the signal is generated in an initial setting at installment of the wire is defined as an initial position Z1, a position set in the middle of an elevating/lowering path for the spindle head 12 below the initial position Z1 with a distance of the predetermined elongation limit allowable value L is defined as a movement start position Z2, and a section between the movement start position Z2 and the initial position Z1 is defined as a detection section. It is determined whether or not the elongation of the wire exceeds the elongation limit allowable value L based on whether the signal is generated or not during movement of the spindle head 12 from the movement start position Z2 to the initial position Z1.
