PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting structure of a thermal insulation plate by welding, which enables favorable welding of the thermal insulation plate and a heat radiation component without causing the increase in weight and material cost, thereby providing the high product quality and enhancement of durability. SOLUTION: In a mounting structure of a thermal insulation plate 2, parts (both welding parts 25a, 25a) in a midway section of a mounting edge part in a thermal insulation plate 2 of a heat radiation component in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine are fixed to a catalyst converter 1 over a prescribed length by welding E. Notches 27, 27 are formed in advance in step parts 25b, 25b between a recessed part 25 disposed in the vicinity of a start end E1 and terminal end E2 of both welding parts 25a, 25a taken as a high heat receiving part in the thermal insulation plate 2, and non-recessed part 26 (unwelded portion) situated in the other part.
