The measuring device has a receiving system with a variable reception frequency. A transmitter system (3,4) has a variable transmission frequency which is modulated by a low frequency identification signal. The receiving system demodulates the identification signal from the transmission frequency if the receiving frequency matches the transmission frequency. An analysis/control system controls the transmission frequency, modulation, and transmission power. An Independent claim is included for a measuring method.
