PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch device and an operating device, which can suppress failures caused by invasion of foreign matters without deteriorating operability. SOLUTION: The switch device SW provided in the operating device includes: a case 1 in which one surface side in its thickness direction is open; an operating part 2 movably mounted to the one surface side of the case 1 in its thickness direction; and a detection block BK for detecting the displacement of the operating part 2 housed in the case 1. The detection block BK has: an actuator 3 which moves in accordance with the displacement of the operating part 2; a detecting part 4 having a detection coil; a part 5 to be detected; and a signal processing part 6. In the case 1, a barrier plate part 8d for partitioning the inside of the case 1 in its thickness direction is formed, so that an electronic component housing chamber 8f for housing the detecting part 4 and the signal processing part 6 is formed on the other surface side in the thickness direction of the case 1. In the barrier plate part 8d, a shaft hole 8k in which the actuator 3 is movably inserted is formed, and a coating part 12 is provided which covers a gap between the peripheral surface of the actuator 3 and the inner peripheral surface of the shaft hole 8k to prevent the foreign matters from being invaded.
