<p>A drive system for rotating a load. The system comprises a motor having a rotor and a planetary gear transmission connecting the rotor of the motor to the load. The planetary gear transmission comprises a first sun gear made of plastic and connected to the rotor. The transmission also comprises a planetary gear system made of plastic that can be driven by the sun gear in order to step down a speed of the rotor. The planetary gear system has an output member which can be connected to the load. The sun gear and the planetary gear system are free of lubricant. The transmission can increase the efficiency of a system which consumes energy over long periods, such as a fan.</p> |
