<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter for a gas generator and the gas generator, facilitating manufacturing processes, capable of suppressing manufacturing cost, securing sufficient gas cooling performance and slug collection performance and having pressure adjusting performance of generated gas. <P>SOLUTION: The filter 10 for the gas generator is provided with a first cylindrical filter layer 11 and a second cylindrical filter layer 12 provided on the outer periphery of the first filter layer 11 concentrically with the first filter layer 11. One end part of the first filter layer 11 is integrated with one end part of the second filter layer 12, and a cylindrical air layer 13 concentric with the first filter layer 11 is formed between the first filter layer 11 and the second filter layer 12.
