PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigator which is used for navigation operation processing by transmitting map data from the hard desk device to a large-capacity nonvolatile memory, inhibits a power consumption, and prevents the occurrence of faults by suppressing an operation of a hard desk device. SOLUTION: The navigator has the nonvolatile memory 8 which has a storage capacity capable of storing the map data of the range of administrative district, corresponding to at least about one prefecture. A CPU 1 transmits the map data, including a present location of the range of administrative district corresponding to at least about one prefecture from HDD 11 to the nonvolatile memory 8.
