In a brake for a perambulator, a bearing-rod d, disposed centrally and transversely of the frame, of the perambulator, is provided with cranks d<SP>1</SP> and rubber brakepads d<SP>3</SP> on the cranks which co-operate with the wheel tyres b<SP>2</SP>, a hand lever d<SP>5</SP> is connected to one of the cranks and is adapted to co-operate with upward and downward facing catch members e<SP>1</SP>, e adjustably mounted on the frame a, the lower catch member e ensuring maintenance of the brake in its applied position by virtue of the resilience of the tyre and the upper catch member el securing the brake in its released position by virtue of the crank engagement with the spring plate stop (#) on the chassis.
