PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology by which the interior of a capping device for moisture retention can be fully humidified. SOLUTION: The fluid jet apparatus includes a head which jets fluid, a first capping device for moisture retention for keeping the head wet, and a first moisture retention liquid supply part for supplying to the first capping device a first moisture retention liquid for keeping the head wet when the first capping device covers the head. The first moisture retention liquid supply part has a first tank which stores the first moisture retention liquid, and the first capping device has a moisture retention liquid storage part for storing the first moisture retention liquid supplied from the first moisture retention liquid supply part. The first moisture retention liquid supply part supplies the first moisture retention liquid stored in the first tank to the first capping device by utilizing a head difference between the first moisture retention liquid stored in the first tank and the first moisture retention liquid storage part.
