PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystal device for surface mounting which prevents curving and a defect of a container body during seam welding, can accommodate a large crystal piece having a plane external shape by making an area of an internal bottom surface large, and can be improved in productivity. SOLUTION: The crystal device has a metal ring 5 on the opening end surface of the container body 1 having a recessed portion composed of a bottom wall 1a and a frame wall 1b as laminate ceramic and accommodates at least the crystal piece 2 in the recessed portion, and the crystal piece 2 is hermetically sealed by joining a metal cover 8 to the metal ring 5 by seam welding. The surface of the metal cover 8 which is a surface to be joined to the metal ring 5 is formed of an eutectic alloy of Ag and Cu, and the side ratio W/H of the height H to the width W of the frame wall 1b is 1.9 to 2.5.
