<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vinyl alcohol-based polymer which is useful for manufacturing an inkjet recording material having an ink receiving layer free of surface cracking, high in glossiness, excellent in ink absorption and high in transparency with high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The vinyl alcohol-based polymer contains monomeric units bearing specified polyoxyalkylene groups. In the polymer, the product P×S, wherein P is the viscosity-average degree of polymerization of the polymer and S is the polyoxyalkylene group-bearing monomeric unit content in mol% relative to the whole monomeric units in the polymer, and the number (n) of the oxyalkylene repeating units in the polyoxyalkylene group-bearing monomeric units satisfies a specified relational expression. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
