PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for storing additional information associated with moving image data in association with each moving image data section, and to provide a method and an apparatus for playing back a recording medium with the moving image data and a file containing its additional information recorded thereon by the method. SOLUTION: Detailed additional information associated with moving image data recorded in a recording medium, for example, information describing a scene or introducing characters is additionally recorded in a script file format, and information for associating each script file with a section of moving image data displayed together with its content is recorded in other link file or a script file name. During playback, based on information in the link file or the script file name, a script file corresponding to currently reproduced moving image data is searched, and a content of the script file is simultaneously displayed together with its data on the screen.
