METHOD OF MANUFACTURING IMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVE (2)

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially manufacturing method for obtaining a methylhydroxyethylimidazole derivative of higher purity in a higher yield than conventional methods considering that the conventional methods for manufacturing the above aimed product useful as an intermediate of medicines by a Grignard reaction of a bis(ethoxycarbonyl)imidazole derivative with methylmagnesium bromide is not satisfactory from the viewpoint of its purity and yield. SOLUTION: The bis(ethoxycarbonyl)imidazole derivative is caused to react with a Grignard reagent solution comprising methylmagnesium bromide and a solvent comprising tetrahydrofuran or tetrahydrofuran and an aromatic solvent in the presence of a solvent comprising tetrahydrofuran or tetrahydrofuran and an aromatic solvent followed by hydrolysis to give the methylhydroxyethylimidazole derivative as the aimed compound at high purity in a high yield.
