<p>A steering apparatus includes: a steering wheel (12), a shaft (14) that transfers a rotational force from the steering wheel (12), a steering column (16) that supports the shaft (14), a fitting bracket (36) with which the steering column (16) is fitted to a vehicle body-side member (39), a rotational force assist mechanism (C) that applies a rotational force to the shaft (14), and a tilt mechanism (A) that changes a tilt angle of the steering column (16). The fitting bracket (36) includes a support portion (74) that tiltably supports the steering column (16), and a secured portion (76) secured to the vehicle body-side member (39). The fitting bracket (36) is structured in such a manner that the secured portion (76) and the support portion (74) lie in the same plane perpendicular to the rotational axis of the shaft (14) when the steering column (16) is at a predetermined tilt angle that is within a range of tilt angle achievable by using the tilt mechanism (A).</p> |
