<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter including red, green and blue display pixels, in each of which the phase difference value in thickness direction is properly controlled, which enables obtaining a liquid crystal display device causing no coloration in observation from the oblique directions and having good visibility. <P>SOLUTION: In the color filter, a red display pixel, a green display pixel and a blue display pixel are arranged on a substrate. The thickness-directional phase difference value R<SB>Rth</SB>of the red display pixel, the thickness-directional phase difference value G<SB>Rth</SB>of the green display pixel, and the thickness-directional phase difference value B<SB>Rth</SB>of the blue display pixel satisfy the following expressions (1) and (2), and at least one of the red display pixel, the green display pixel, and the blue display pixel is constructed of two or more colored layers including different pigments. The expression (1) is ¾(R<SB>Rth</SB>-B<SB>Rth</SB>)¾-¾(G<SB>Rth</SB>-B<SB>Rth</SB>)¾≥0, and the expression (2) is ¾(R<SB>Rth</SB>-B<SB>Rth</SB>)¾-¾(R<SB>Rth</SB>-G<SB>Rth</SB>)¾≥0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
