<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily attach and detach a feeder to/from a component supply position, and replace a reel without completely removing it from a feeder base. <P>SOLUTION: A surface mounting device 10 has a plurality of feeders 12 mounted in parallel with one another at the feeder base 14 provided below the component supply position A for adsorbing and holding an electronic component by a mounting head 18 and successively feeds out a carrier tape T wound around the corresponding reel by each feeder for supplying the electronic component accommodated in the carrier tape to the component supply position. The device includes a rail guide 20 provided in a pull-out direction backward from the forward component supply position in the direction of an array of the feeders and a support member 22 provided behind the rail guide.
