A wiper apparatus (1) includes: a wiper blade (2a) driven by a motor (3a); and a wiper blade (2b) driven by a motor (3b). The motors (3a, 3b) are drive-controlled by control microcomputers (5a, 5b), respectively. The control microcomputers (5a, 5b) are connected to each other through a communication line (7). While exchanging position information of the wiper blades (2a, 2b) through the communication line (7), the control microcomputers (5a, 5b) synchronously drive the motors (3a, 3b) on the basis of a position relationship between both of the wiper blades. In the case where a communication abnormality occurs when the position relationship between the wiper blades (2a, 2b) is in a normal state, the wiper blade (2b) is stopped after reaching a lower turning position. In the case where the communication abnormality occurs in a state where the position relationship between the blades (2a, 2b) is inverted, the blade (2b) is stopped after reaching an upper turning position.
