摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an operator to easily set a prescribed gamma characteristic value on the basis of target value matrix information of format which an operator can easily identify when the image quality of an image display device is set. <P>SOLUTION: In an image display device, a characteristic value alteration part of an image receiver has a measurement part which measures a level of an output signal after gamma correction processing is made with respect to an input signal, and a characteristic value setting part which compares a measurement value measured by the measurement part with a target value corresponding to the level of the output signal which is computed from target value matrix information stored in a storage part, and alters a gamma characteristic value. The target value matrix information includes an 8-byte matrix having, in each line, the value of 1 of several bits and the value of 0 of the remaining bits. In the matrix, its column direction corresponds to the vertical axis, which indicates the size of the level of the output signal, and its line direction corresponds to the horizontal axis which indicates the size of the level of the input signal. The matrix is constituted in a graphic form by which the operator can grasp the value of the output signal corresponding to the level of the input signal in one-to-one relation according to a position of the value 1 in the matrix. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
