<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral electric field type active matrix liquid crystal display of high image quality capable of restraining a transverse crosstalk. <P>SOLUTION: Light shielding electrodes 53 adjacent to drain bus lines 56 partitioning pixel areas P and extended therealong are provided in the respective pixel areas P partitioned by gate bus lines 55 and the drain bus lines 56. The light shielding electrodes 53 are isolated, is overlapped to a comb-shaped part 71a extended adjacently to the drain bus line 56 of a pixel electrode 71 with an insulating film therebetween, and is brought into an electrically floating state when operated. A potential of the light shielding electrode 53 under the floating state gets near to that of the pixel electrode 71, and a coupling capacity between the drain bus line 56 and a common electrode 72 (common bus line) is reduced thereby to restrain the transverse crosstalk from being generated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
