PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control unit of an internal combustion engine, which restrains dilution of an lubricant caused by adhesion of an injected fuel onto an internal wall of a cylinder. SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine, a fuel is directly injected into a combustion chamber in an intake process, and an intake air is introduced to the combustion chamber by setting the valve opening time TK of an intake valve on a delay angle side rather than the top dead center after reducing internal pressure of the combustion chamber. The electronic control unit of the internal combustion engine estimates a wall temperature TH of the combustion chamber, and also estimates the internal pressure PC of the combustion chamber at a fuel injection time T. Fuel injection pressure PF of an injector is reduced when the estimated wall temperature TH is lower than the determined temperature THL and the estimated internal pressure PC is lower.
