FLIGHT TERMINATION

A flight termination system and method which uses a command kill architecture. A codeword is encoded as a series of dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) pulses and transmitted to an aircraft for verification to establish a cut-down condition. Cut- down may be effected by operating a fuel line valve in the case of a combustion engine or a fuse in the case of electric drive for example.
